Print remains. Period.
What the Two Sides Trend Tracker 2025 reveals about our reading behavior
Digital is everywhere. And yet more and more people are consciously turning to print again. The current Two Sides Trend Tracker 2025 clearly shows that print is not just there - print is valued. Especially when it comes to understanding, trust and learning.
65% of Europeans today prefer printed books. In 2021, the figure was 53%. The trend for magazines and catalogs is also clearly on the rise. And this is more than just a gut feeling - it's statistically proven.
Printing is preferred above all where information is important:
Package inserts, medical records, bank statements - in other words, things you'd rather read more about without having to scroll.
- 47 % want medical information on paper.
- 36% appreciate printed documents from the doctor.
- 27% remain with paper invoices.
And a full 76% say: We want to decide for ourselves whether digital or printed. A clear statement.
What is also striking is that print plays a central role in education.
58% of respondents believe that pupils learn better with printed material. And almost one in two understand printed news better than online news. No wonder - print comes without pop-ups, without push messages, without distractions. But with structure, calm and real focus.
And then there is the issue of sustainability.
Printed media is often regarded as old-fashioned or resource-intensive - quite wrongly. Paper is recyclable, biodegradable and in many cases comes from sustainable forestry. The digital alternatives, on the other hand? They have a much larger ecological footprint, which is often forgotten.
Conclusion:
Whether in everyday life, in education or for sensitive information - print media offer orientation, depth and trust. And that is precisely why they are anything but outdated in 2025.
